Sarchí is part of Costa Rica’s story of wood, color and craftsmanship. Yulieth grew up among these traditions; today, they inform the care we bring to our furniture.
Color becomes a tradition
Painting and decorating oxcarts developed in the early twentieth century, giving practical objects a distinctive artistic identity.
A living heritage
Costa Rica’s oxherding and oxcart traditions were proclaimed by UNESCO in 2005 and inscribed on its Representative List in 2008.
Meet Yulieth
A piece of Sarchí, shared with you.
For Yulieth Chacón, Sarchí is home. Born and raised among its woodworking and painted-oxcart traditions, she wanted to share more than furniture: a connection to the place and the people behind each piece.
Together with her brother and co-founder, Johan Chacón, she brings that vision to Sarchí Concepts. Their Costa Rican-owned business connects the furniture handmade in their own Sarchí workshop with homes in Guanacaste and beyond.
The workshop gives that promise its substance: real timber, skilled hands and the time each piece needs. For Yulieth and Johan, sharing Sarchí means keeping its craft present in everyday life—around a dining table, beside a favorite chair, in a home made personal.
